Health Forum

On Tuesday, August 24th, seven Student Leaders from Woolston School attended a Health Forum with students from other schools.
We worked in groups and shared ideas about how to promote a healthy school environment. We also looked at the visual diaries different Health groups are keeping.

The Framing Goes Up

The workmen have put up the timber frames to make the walls of the new classrooms. There are spaces for the windows and doors. There are some grey beams to make it stronger. They have put up the beams ready for the roof to be built on.
The builders are pouring the concrete for the floors of the sick bay, Principal's office, staffroom and the main office.
Next week they might be doing the framing for the administration block.

Spelling Bee

Last Friday our school held a Spelling Bee. There were 9 contestants, one from each class.
Between each round Emma and Storm would go to the front and do a dance as The Honeybees.
After each round concluded, Jet from K1 would get everyone to give the contestants a round of applause. There were five or six rounds altogether until finally there was just Juanita from K2 and Sam from K1 left.
In the end Sam was the champion speller.
It was lots of fun. Each class made banners and a chant to support their class representative.

The Administration Block Begins

The office, the sick bay, the staffroom and Miss Reid's office are starting to be built. The builders dug a trench and put metal rods in them. They will pour in concrete and put on blocks to make it strong. It is called the foundation.

Junior Block Building

On Thursday the concrete truck drove in to where the builders were. They poured the concrete for the floor of the junior classrooms. The concrete came out through a big tube and into the space inside the blocks.
The builders got a long stick and made the concrete smooth.
